Restaurants

Everyone has favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach. My wife and I try not to eat at the usual restaurant chains that you find everywhere. Our favorites:

Mrs. Fish - There is very little atmosphere at this local downtown spot, but we always visit here to get the grilled grouper.

Joe's Bar & Grill - Good food, good atmosphere and fun to watch the raccoons when you are seated out on the enclosed porch.

Finn McCools - Corn Beef and Cabbage is great. My wife likes the turkey Reuben with the McCool chips. We always eat out on the porch.

I hear there is a new restaurant coming to resort.

I like the River City Cafe. There's many up and down the coast, I like the one @ 73rd Ave North. Peanuts on the floors and great burgers.

Terry, per your email request I'm leaving my comments for others to review, digest, and comment upon. I have grave concerns about the actions of SBC's board of directors and often wonder where their loyalty is directed, as it doesn’t seem to be towards the homeowners. My observations leave me with a sense of unease that the loyalty of the board is with certain members of the board. As long as the board’s actions remain as they have since I have been a homeowner, I feel no personal representation. It is time to make a change.

Here are my thoughts: (1) The Nobel Company should not have any involvement with the counting of votes…none, nada, zilch! They should be counted by a completely independent party with no interest in SBC, the BOD, any homeowner, any timeshare owner, or any vendor, contractor, or commercial renter of any SBC property…none, nada, zilch! (2) A HAC member should be present at all BOD meetings if at all possible in order to report to other HAC members and any interested homeowner. (3) I don’t recommend setting a certain number of HAC members from each building. If it is a homeowner’s desire to serve as a member of the HAC, they should not be excluded because their building is already heavily represented. I would, however, suggest that an odd number of HAC members be selected simply as a voting advantage. (4) Make it a standing function of the HAC to have member(s) walk both buildings/properties on a regularly basis to see that maintenance is being performed. Every homeowner pays a great deal of money annually for maintenance and it should be reported back to the homeowners on a regular basis, especially those owners who do not visit the property often.

The time has past and come again for the opportunity to get “control” out of the hands of the current BOD and into the hands of a Board that will represent the interest of every homeowner and not the interest of a select few. SBC is a resort community and not a kingdom. It belongs to EVERY homeowner...It belongs to YOU.

Larry B, this is an excellent post, but I think you should repost it under the "Controversy at SBC" section, and not under the restaurant section. Maybe you can "bump" it.

PS, we agree with you on these issues, and we will be voting to unseat the logstanding members of the BOD. They do think they are running a kingdom

If you have not tried "Bimini's" you need to for their seafood, especially. Also, good prices.

We have tried quite a few of the area restaurants over the last year and have found some very good ones. For those that like Italian cuisine we recommend Benny Rappa's or Luigi's. Wild Wing Cafe at Barefoot Landing is really good, moderately priced and casual. Their skewers are excellent and there are approx 20 different "marinades" to choose from. Hamburger Joe's, near Barefoot Landing is a terrific place (and very inexpensive) to go for a burger or hot dog and they have fried bologna sandwiches too! For wonderful seafood, we highly recommend Phillips SEafood Restaurant on Bypass 17 out by Broadway at The Beach. Hope folks will try some of these and find them just as enjoyable as we did.
